- action
- Game genrei that that needs the player to have quick reflexes, it emphasizes physical challenges, including hand-eye coordination and reaction-time.
- adventure
- Game genrei where the player assumes the role of the main character in a story and solves puzzles, interacts with non-playable characters, and explores the virtual world.
- artificial intelligence - A.I.
- techniques used in computer and video games to imitate intelligent human behavior of the non-player characters

- boss
- The last enemy (a powerful computer character) in the end of a level that the player will be confronted and must defeat.
- bug
- An error in a game's programming, which sometimes can be exploited, and sometimes make the game unable to be finished.

- cheat
- Some games have the option (by entering some code or use combination of some certain objects) that allows the player to have unlimited ammunition or to received no injuries during the game play.
- computer graphics - CG
- Graphics created and displayed on a computer. Game CG is produced by game engine, which renders game scene via 2D or 3D graphic drivers such as DirectXi or OpenGL.

- A sample playable demonstration of a game that is intended to entice the player to purchase the full version.
- DirectX
- Microsoft DirectXi provides means for handling tasks related to multimedia on Microsoft Operating platforms. It enables game to render 2D or 3D graphics on Windows operating system without needing to interact directly with the hardware devices.

- A game genrei that aims to teach young players by way of playing game.
- edutainment
- A game genrei that is meant to entertain as well as educate
- end user
- a person who buys and plays a game.

- first-person
- A perspective in which the events in a game are seen through the eyes of the main character. First-person perspective are often used in shooting games.
- Frames per Second (FPS)
- The number of full screen pictures rendered by a graphics engine within a second. A higher FPS requires higher computer performance and yields better games effects and appearances.

- genre
- Game category characterized by particular style, form, or content. Common game genres include arcade & actioni, adventurei, strategy, puzzle, card & board, time management and so on.
- Graphical User Interface - GUI
- Graphical interface for the gamer to interact with the computer program onscreen.

- Items or treasure you can collect in games from containers, NPCs, quests, etc.

- NPC - Non-Player Character
- Refers to game characters (in-game enemies, neutrals, or allies) under the control of the computer AI.

- A questi is given by an NPC to the player to take some with associated rules for performing the actioni. The quest generally rewards the player with something upon completing a quest.

- Real Time Strategy Games
- A genrei of game in which the players have to control individual units and armies for building bases, gathering resources, developing technology and battling with or against other players. This genre of game includes titles like WarCraft, StarCraft and Command and Conquer.
- resolution
- Refers to the ratio of dots or pixels per inch on a display, which impacts the degree of sharpness or fineness of the images. A larger resolutioni requires more CPU times and system memory. Many PC games have the option to set resolution so that they can run on computers of different performance.
- Role-Playing Game
- A game where the player take the role of a character. Synonyms: R.P.G

- Games that attempt to accurately simulates the situations and experiences one can have in the real world.

- Terms of Service
- Most online games have an agreement which players must acknowledge in order to play, and this forms the basis for enforcing rules of conduct upon players.
- third-person
- A perspective where the player has a top view of the characters and events within the game.
- trial version
- A game version that allows player to play for certain period or levels. After reaching the limits, the game will prompt the player to purchase full version in order to continue.

- UI provides windows and dialogues and the components within them such as buttons, lists and choice box so that game players can make in-game choices, interact with other players, and change the settings of the game.
